The Literature Centre is a unique not-for-profit literary hub unlike anywhere else in Australia. We're delighted to present our 3rd Australian Storytellers Festival. Join us in Fremantle for one huge FREE day with an incredible line-up of talented Australian authors and illustrators of children’s and young adult literature.

Take a look at our exciting schedule of 12 sessions (via REGISTER button below), all suitable for a variety of age groups and featuring insightful conversations, illustration demonstrations, writing tips, hands-on activities and Q&A opporutunities by the following special guests:

PRESENTERS - Brenton E. McKenna (WA), Briony Stewart (WA), Cristy Burne (WA), Deb Abela (NSW), Frané Lessac (WA), Gavin Aung Than (WA), James Foley (WA), Jen Banyard (WA), Mark Greenwood (WA)

BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL - Our galleries will be set according to these online bookings. Three sessions will run concurrently at 10am, 11.15am, 12.30pm and 1.45pm on the day. Approximate session times are 45 minutes with time for book signings on the lawn afterwards. Please present your Eventbrite tickets on the day (either printed or on your mobile phone). Parents/carers are required to remain onsite with their children.

BOOKSHOP & ART - The Literature Centre has a Bookshop featuring only Australian novels and picture books. Original art and prints by a range of Australian illustrators is also for sale. Make sure you have a browse! EFTPOS is available. Book signings by guest authors/illustrators available.

LOCATION - We’re located in the world heritage-listed Old Fremantle Prison, in the Old Prison Hospital building. Access is via our own pedestrian gate in the prison wall, NOT via the main Prison entrance. We are wheelchair accessible with suitable toilet facilities onsite. Gates will open 9.30am and close by 3.30pm. Please take care when walking around our grounds and buildings as our surrounds are fragile.

PARKING – Available in the Parry Street carpark, near the Fremantle Oval and Fremantle Markets. Simply walk up Holdsworth Street, following the limestone walls onto Knutsford Street to our gate at the top of the hill. Limited parking may be available on the Hampton Road grass near our gate or on nearby streets. Please check signs for restrictions.

AMENITIES - As there are no shops onsite, you may want to pack a picnic to bring along. We will have a coffee van onsite to sell tea, coffee, cold drinks and some snack foods. However, we suggest all visitors bring their own water bottles and/or lunch as limited food and beverage is available and you may prefer to use your short breaks to relax rather than queue. Chairs, tables and umbrellas will be on our grassed area in front of the Centre for breaks in between sessions.

PRINT DETAILED FLYER - For detailed information on each session, please see the flyer attached HERE for the Australian Storytellers Festival or browse our website www.thelitcentre.org.au

This FREE community event is made possible with the generous support of Lotterywest and private donors Liz and Peter Jones.
